WHO ARE WE?

We are a food distribution and material resource center for families and individuals in our community battling emergency living situations that we could all find ourselves in at sometime in our lives.
As a participating agency in the Pike County work release program our local inmates work with Helping Ease Life's Poverty to build handicapped ramps for low income disabled individuals at no cost to the families.
Helping Ease Life's Poverty can help ease the burden of starting life anew in a new home for families coming from the local Domestic Violence Shelter or the Emergency Shelter.
We can help ease the burden of a low income family at Christmas who finds there's not enough money to pay the rent, utilities and buy toys or warm clothing for the children.
Helping Ease Life's Poverty can help ease the struggle some families face to provide school age children with clothing and school supplies.
Helping Ease Life's Poverty can help ease the pain of some of our elderly community when they face the choice of either buying food or medicine.

WHEN WAS HELP ESTABLISHED?

Pike County HELP was started in 1988 in the garage of Charles Sanders and then later moved to a church building. It was then moved to a rental building and today Pike County HELP operates from two locations: a metal building in Phelps that was fully paid for with donations by people with tender hearts and an office in the warehouse resell space of the Charity Thrift store in Pikeville, KY.

HOW IS HELP FUNDED? (Formerly known as HOPE)

Funding comes from donations from Appalachian Outreach Mission in Maryland, churches, businesses, and individuals with tender hearts.

WHAT IS OUR MAIN OBJECTIVE?

Our main objective is to obey our Lord's command as written in

Matt. 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Matt 25:36
Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Matt. 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

Matt. 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
